When I think of spring, I imagine a big sigh of relief, a renewing breath of fresh air— both literally and physically. Gone are the harsh, cold days of winter. Any time the sun is shining is a good time in my book!
That’s why with the change of seasons, I also like to add some change to my home decor. There is something so refreshing about just a few touches to bring that bright sunshine of spring inside the home.
The best part about this little refresh is that it doesn’t take a lot of time, effort, or money; a few strategically planned pieces can make such a difference.
1. Rugs and Throw Pillows
Whenever I am looking for a refresher in my home, I always start with throw pillows. You can find festive, seasonal options in all shapes and sizes, and there is always a bargain to be found. The same is true for rugs. For spring, I’m looking for light, bright and crisp options to really brighten up my spaces. I love perusing places like Wayfair, Amazon and even Etsy for unique finds at awesome prices.
2. Fresh Flowers
Fresh flowers increase your feel-good hormones, uplifting spirits and spaces. You don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for them either. This time of year, I love daffodils and tulips and can usually find them at Trader Joe’s or my local grocery store. I like to divvy up the bouquets and place small arrangements in vases all around the house.
3. Candles and Essential Oils
Essential oils are a hot-button topic right now, and for good reason! There are so many wonderful ways to use various essential oils, from medicinal to mood-boosting to recipe enhancing, but of course, the most obvious way to use them is as fragrance. Many oils smell great on their own, and can even purify the air (like lavender, lemon, or thieves), but there are wonderful blends as well.
Here’s a great springtime blend for your diffuser. 4 drops of Lavender + 4 drops of Purification I’m using this daily right now. It smells amazing.

4. Lemon Decor
Lemons are such an easy and underrated way to brighten up a tablescape, but they really pack a punch. I love to put a handful of lemons on a pretty cake stand under a glass dome as a kitchen centerpiece. Of course, fresh lemons are great and can double as a drink garnish, but you can also use fake lemons to make them last all season long.
5. Natural Light
Don’t underestimate the power of bringing a little sunlight indoors. It’s easy to throw open the curtains and let the light shine, giving your home an instant facelift. To take this a step further, upgrade your shades and curtains to white or light colors in breezy fabrics, ensuring optimum cheeriness.
6. Put Away Dark, Wintery Items
Dark, heavy decor and fabrics make me want to curl up and hibernate. There’s definitely a time for such things, and that time is December! Now that warmer months are here, swap those winter items for their lighter spring versions.
7. Framed Prints
I love to keep things fresh in my home by changin out prints I have hung on the wall or displayed on my counters. This is an easy way to stay festive and in season. I love to find unique, downloadable prints on Etsy and use Framebridge for beautiful frames at an awesome value.
